LCPD Data

This page is the base page for the LCPD data section of the web site. Use this page to view pages summarising LCPD stack utilisation and hours.

The Large Combustion Plant Directive (LCPD, 2001/80/EC) is a European Union directive which requires member states of the European Union to legislatively limit flue gas emissions from combustion plant having thermal capacity of 50 MW or greater. The directive applies to fossil-fuel power stations, and other large thermal plant such as petroleum refineries and steelworks. The directive specifies emission limits for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and dust.

From 2007, plant built earlier than that could either opt to comply with the emissions limits, or 'opt out'. Plant which opted out has been limited to a maximum of 20,000 hours of further operation, and must close completely by the end of 2015.

The Hours page is used to generate a spreadsheet detailing hours of operation of LCPD plants.

The Daily page is used to generate a spreadsheet with BM Units grouped by LCPD stack to arrive at a daily total per LCPD stack for a time period. Data displayed is volumes and balancing mechanism acceptance volume, cashflow and price data.

The Half Hourly page is used to generate a spreadsheet with BM Units grouped by LCPD stack to arrive at a settlement period total per LCPD stack for a time period. Data displayed is volumes and balancing mechanism acceptance volume, cashflow and price data.
